POWER DIVISION

Our experienced high voltage team specializes in constructing and maintaining overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution power lines, substations, and generating stations. The collaboration between our Power Division and Civil Division has proven invaluable, allowing us to complete civil/electrical projects in-house, eliminating the need for subcontracting. Since early 2016, we have successfully completed over a hundred electrical construction projects for BC Hydro, ranging from ground grid upgrades to emergency equipment replacements and large capital infrastructure projects. Our dedicated workforce, including managers, electricians, carpenters, and equipment operators, holds current BC Hydro PSSP and/or WPP authorization. Led by our experienced management staff, our crews consistently strive for excellence in onsite performance, resulting in the successful completion of all BC Hydro projects with positive feedback on safety, cost, and quality.

CHRIS OSTBERG

Power Division Operations Manager

Chris completed his electrical apprenticeship with K2 Electric Ltd., earning his Journeyman Electrician Certificate in 2006. Over the next five years, he served as a Construction Electrician/Foreman primarily in the wood products industry. From 2008 to 2015, Chris moved on to work for BC Hydro Construction Services, spending three and a half years as the head Electrical Foreman for the Northern Interior. In this role, he oversaw a variety of projects, from emergency equipment replacements to large capital endeavors like substation capacity upgrades and voltage conversion projects. His extensive experience with BC Hydro provided him with a complex technical background in substation construction and a comprehensive understanding of BC Hydro’s internal system, standards, policies, and construction procedures. Returning to K2 Electric Ltd. in 2015, Chris took charge of the growing high voltage construction division, successfully completing numerous substation construction projects for both BC Hydro and private customers.
